LAKE BARKLEY

Lake Barkley was created in 1966 when the Barkley Dam was put into service. Both the lake and the dam are named for Vice President Alben Barkley, a Kentucky native. The dam impounds the Cumberland River to create over 90 square miles, or just over 58,000 acres of surface water. Also it is 134 miles in length and features 1,004 miles of shoreline. An outdoor paradise located in the heart of America. The land and water scenery are absolutely breathtaking.
