Kentucky Lake was created in 1945 when the Kentucky Dam was put into service. The dam impounds the Tennessee River to create 250 square miles, or just over 160,000 acres of surface water. Also it is 184 miles in length and features 2,300 miles of shoreline making it the 7th largest man-made reservoir in the United States. An outdoor paradise located in the heart of America. If you love exploring and viewing nature the wildlife diversity is extensive and Kentucky Lake provides some of the best wildlife viewing in the state. You could see bald eagles, deer, beavers, gray foxes, box turtles, gray squirrels, turkeys, and otters to name a few. Around 260 species of birds and 55 species of mammals.
