A show under the dome

Settle into a climate-controlled theater with a 40-foot dome and surround sound. Programs explore astronomy, Earth science and seasonal subjects, with most lasting about 40 minutes. A live Tonight’s Sky presentation follows each show, connecting the program to the sky over Land Between the Lakes.

Choose a program for your group

Check the current schedule for the day, start time and recommended age range. Some programs are designed for young children; others suit older viewers. One regular show is included with admission. The schedule also identifies shows with flickering or dynamic light effects, which may not suit light-sensitive visitors.

Laser lights and music

Seasonal laser shows pair music with colorful projected images. They have their own dates and admission rather than running continuously during the daytime schedule. Use the official listing to choose a performance, especially if you are planning an evening around a particular artist or theme.

The observatory is a separate experience

The observatory has a 16-inch telescope and equipment for safe solar viewing. It opens on selected Saturdays, not whenever the theater is open. Summer Star Parties are offered with the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers; the outdoor viewing is free, while an accompanying planetarium program requires regular admission.

Make a little more of the stop

The Golden Pond Visitor Center also has maps, local information, historic exhibits, restrooms and a gift shop. Its displays introduce the people who lived between the rivers and the changes brought by the dams. A visit can combine an indoor show with a look at the area’s history.

• Published hours: Daily, 10 AM–5 PM; last daytime show starts at 4 PM. Evening event times are separate.
• Seasonal and holiday closures: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Confirm any additional holiday changes with the venue.
• Published admission: Regular shows: ages 13 and older $7; ages 5–12 $4.50; ages 4 and younger free. Laser shows: $8 per person.
