PLAN YOUR KENTUCKY LAKE WEEKEND
Two days away.
Your kind of weekend.
Start with a simple plan for family time, fishing or outdoor adventures. Make Early American Motel in Aurora your base, and leave room for the moments you did not schedule.
What brings you to the lake?
Choose a suggested one-night, two-day plan. Swap stops to suit your dates, your group and the weather.
Three suggested weekends
Check-in starts 2 PM Central on your arrival day.
Check-out by 10 AM Central on your departure day.
These are flexible ideas, not booked activities or guaranteed openings. Confirm attraction schedules, meal service and access before traveling. Early room access is not included.
FAMILY TIME · TWO FLEXIBLE DAYS
A little discovery. Plenty of breathing room.
Keep the first day centered on Aurora, then make Golden Pond your main outing after checkout. Choose one or two activities rather than trying to see everything.

Day 1 · Arrive & settle in
On your way in
Start with lunch, not a packed schedule.
Choose a lunch stop that is serving on your travel day. If you arrive in the area early, keep your luggage with you; room access starts at check-in.
From 2 PM Central
Check in and make yourselves comfortable.
Unpack at Early American Motel. Take a break before choosing any extra outing; the weekend does not need to be a race.
Evening
Enjoy a local dinner.
Use the dinner choices in our dining guide and confirm current service. Keep the evening easy so everyone is ready for tomorrow.
Day 2 · Golden Pond & home
Morning · before 10 AM Central
Breakfast, pack and check out.
Choose breakfast from the meal guide and confirm Sunday service if that is your departure day. Check out by 10 AM Central and take your belongings with you.
After checkout
Choose a wildlife drive or a planetarium show.
Head toward Golden Pond for the Elk & Bison Prairie or a scheduled planetarium program. Check the show first if you hope to do both; wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Before heading home
Leave room for one good experience.
Pick a planetarium show suited to your children if the schedule fits, or simply finish your chosen outing and find lunch. Skip extra stops if the group is tired.
FISHING TRIP · TWO FLEXIBLE DAYS
Less rushing. More time for your fishing plans.
Use one main launch area instead of crisscrossing the lakes. This is a flexible fishing weekend, not a catch forecast or a promise of safe water conditions.

Day 1 · Prepare & get on the water
Before arrival
Pick your ramp and pack for the day.
Use the verified ramp map and checklist. Confirm access, licenses and the rules for the exact water you will fish; a map marker is not an open-ramp guarantee.
From 2 PM Central
Check in before your main outing.
Unload and confirm our boat-parking and cleaning-station arrangements. Then decide whether the weather leaves room for an afternoon outing.
Later in the day
Fish if conditions allow, then settle in.
Check the forecast and posted guidance before launching. Back during your stay, use our cleaning station as arranged and ask about freezer access. Finish with a meal.
Day 2 · An optional second outing
Morning · before 10 AM Central
Pack, collect your gear and check out.
If you used the freezer, arrange retrieval before departure. Check out by 10 AM Central; do not plan on keeping the room or using property amenities afterward without prior agreement.
After checkout
Return to your chosen launch—or change plans.
Only make a second outing if the conditions, access and your travel schedule work. Take your belongings and plan your own cooler and fish-handling needs for the trip home.
Before heading home
Leave time to load and travel.
Keep the last outing flexible, then find lunch if it fits your route. If the lake is not a good option, trade fishing for an indoor program or a relaxed meal.
OUTDOOR ADVENTURES · TWO FLEXIBLE DAYS
Pick a trail. Keep the rest flexible.
Pair a modest first-day outing with one main adventure on departure day. Turkey Bay is an option for prepared riders with their own arrangements—not an on-site activity or a vehicle rental provided by the property.

Day 1 · Find your pace
Before arrival
Choose a route that fits your group.
Review official maps and alerts for a hike or bike ride. Choose a trail for your ability and the weather, and leave enough time to travel and check in.
From 2 PM Central
Check in and decide how much to do.
Settle into your room. If you have time and conditions allow, enjoy your chosen outing; otherwise save the outdoor plans for tomorrow.
Evening
Refuel and check tomorrow’s plan.
Choose a local dinner, then check the next day’s forecast and LBL alerts. A quieter evening is a good part of an active weekend.
Day 2 · One main adventure
Morning · before 10 AM Central
Breakfast, load up and check out.
Confirm a breakfast stop for your departure day. Pack your vehicle and check out by 10 AM Central before heading to the day’s main activity.
After checkout
Ride Turkey Bay—or choose another trail.
If you have the vehicle, equipment and required permissions, consider Turkey Bay. Check official alerts before hauling. Otherwise choose a suitable hike; do not assume a closed riding area means other trails are clear.
Before heading home
Finish with time to spare.
Leave room for loading and your journey home. If weather or closures interfere, choose a scheduled indoor program or simply enjoy a meal before traveling.
